Throughout the Gospel of John, we read the apostle stating that Jesus’ hour had not yet come (2:4; 7:6, 30; 8:20). However, right in the middle of the book, things change - His appointed hour had come (12:23; 13:1; 17:1). This hour for which Jesus came was now upon Him. We will spend the days surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus looking at this “hour” with a particular focus on how John depicts Jesus in his mission to die in the place of sinners and rise again.
Our prayer is, as we spend time gazing at the glorious person and work of Jesus, we will be in awe of such a great Savior and salvation God has provided. As we stand in awe, may we worship and be transformed more into the image of our Great Savior.
