A commissioning service is a way that a church formally recognizes, authorizes and sets a man aside to do the special work of the office of elder/pastor. To remind and refresh both the pastor/elders and the congregation/flock, charges are given. A charge is a reminder of the responsibilities outlined in the Bible for each party.
