Carl Lendermon  was born physically October 8, 1945 and then born again spiritually February 10, 1964. He was called to Preach within three weeks after he was saved. Carl and his wife, Pat were married on June 10, 1967 and have been serving together for 57 years. God is Good! We have one son and three grandchildren.

He graduated with a BA from Memphis Baptist College in Memphis, TN and a M.Div from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, IN  in 1976. He pastored for over 35 years. 

Mission Ministry  During the 35 plus years in the pastorate he had always wanted to visit a mission field or possibly teach in a small Bible Institute. In 2000, the Lord made it possible for him to visit Ukraine with Dr. Neil Cadwell, founder of Slavic Baptist Mission/Institute. It was also a privilege for him to teach a group of Ukrainian nationals in the work of the ministry.  God answers prayer! 

God laid a burden on his heart for the people of Ukraine that would not go away. He continued to pastor until 2006 when he resigned their church in Winamac, IN after 22 years to go full time with Slavic Baptist Missions. 

The burden to train nationals to do the work of the ministry still burns within his heart and soul. Many of the students from Slavic Baptist Institute have become church planters (100 plus churches) and missionaries to other countries such as India, Africa, (Uganda), Turkmenistan, and Siberia to name some. It is such a blessing to see how the Lord works in the students lives leading them into the areas of ministry that He has prepared for them. Also, many of their students are working to provide humanitarian aid to the war torn parts of Ukraine, putting their lives in danger to do so.  What a privilege it is to have a small part in their training to be better prepared to reach the souls of their fellow countrymen.  

The Lord provides many opportunities for them to share the Gospel with the Ukrainian people in other churches, evangelistic meetings, street witnessing, etc.

It has been their honor to serve with Slavic Baptist Mission for the last 24 years, traveling back and forth to Ukraine, teaching and training Ukrainian Nationals in the work of the ministry. The trips into Ukraine used to last two weeks to a month and happened 4 to 5 times a year, but with the war, that started in February, 2022, that time frame has changed somewhat.  Now they try to get in country as often as possible which is sometimes limited to only 1 time a year, but they prasie the Lord that the ministry of Slavic Baptist Institute continues steady. The Ukrainians have stepped up and are filling the gaps when we cannot be there.  

Slavic Baptist Institute:

1. Meets for four sessions a year of one week each.  Two courses are taught.
2. Carl teaches one course and they have another teacher for the second course.  There are between 35 to 55 students per session. They travel from all over Ukraine and some of the neighboring countries.  
3. To graduate the students must complete a four year curriculum.
4. The session consists of 6 hours per day of class room lectures with questions and answers along the way.  Each course has an exam given at the next session.
5. Between sessions the students are required to complete the following pretaining to the course just studied:

1. Assigned reading (books) pretaining to the course just studied.
2. Write Sermons and Sunday School lessons that are to be turned in at the next session.
3. Give an account of their service (preaching, teaching, witnessing, camps, etc.).

Here at home Carl and Pat attend Hillcrest Baptist Church in Logansport, IN where both teach adult Sunday School classes, and Carl leads a men’s Bible Study on Saturday mornings, and they also work with the Senior Adults planning monthly activities.  It is also a privilege for Carl to fill the pulpit at Hillcrest when it is necessary as well as in other churches as the need arises. It is always a privilege for him to share God’s Word with His people.  They praise the Lord for His leading and directing in their lives.
