Caring for Displaced Children
What exactly is a Crisis Bag? Crisis Bags are backpacks that contain small toiletries, a Bible, coloring book, crayons, a quilt made by the Bethel Sowers and a small pillow. Some of these items vary a bit, however, the love, care and comfort they bring does not. When a child is displaced from their home, these bags are presented to the children by some of Indiana’s state, county and city/town police.
Crisis Bags are also used as a tool that helps to build a positive relationship between the displaced children and the police. The bags are also practical and can be used for school materials later. It is an opportunity for us to plant a seed and be a light. If you are willing to donate any items that go in the bags, there will soon be a bin with pictures and a list in the hallway at Bethel. (TRAVEL SIZE ONLY): shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste/brush, small comb and a tiny compressed washcloth are some of the items that could be used. Please ask Inez Gonzales if you have questions.
