Scripture: Exodus 3:1– 4:31

I. God confronts Moses (1-6)
     The Burning Bush reveals power, glory, eternity, and the self-sufficiency of God.
     The holiness of God. Holy means separate from sin and to God!
     So profound that he hid his face.
II. God chooses Moses
     A. God's assurances
     B. God's appointment
III. God counters Moses
     A. Moses's objections
           1st - who am I? (3:11-12)
           2nd - who are you? (3:13-15)
           3rd - who about them? (4:1-5)
           4th - why me? (4:10-17)
     B. God's proofs
           12:3 - I will be with you. I will give you success - you will come back to this mountain
           1st - Moses' staff (4:2-5) cobra was a symbol of the Pharoah, God's power over man made gods.
           2nd - Moses' hand (4:6-8) God demonstrating power over sickness and disease
           3rd - Moses' action (4:9) Nile was source of life, for Moses to take it and pour out death was a message
IV. God convinces Moses
     A. His word (4:19-23)
     B. His discipline (4:24-26) Moses is now in obedient compliance to the covenant of God.
     C. His leading (4:27-28)
     D. His working (4:29-31)
Next Steps:
     > Repent (do we have a small view of God? Doubt? Pride? Selfishness?)
     > Believe (He is gloriously holy, full of grace and mercy, He is in control)
     > Live (on the truths about God, knowing these truths and living in light of them are different, doer of the word not just a hearer)
